Episode 025 – Wii Play Catch

I want to apologize to all our listeners for our show taking a two month break. It wasn’t planned and unfortunately, couldn’t be helped. As always, thank you so much for continuing to listen. There were many games to discuss in this episode and felt good after a slow year. One of the games we discussed was Mario Kart 7 and the creation of the Wii Are Fanboys community. Above is the search code for our community. If you would like to download the show click HERE and I hope to race all of you soon.

Episode 023 – Wii Want on eShop

Better late than never right? I am used to the lack of games during the summer but, I am not used to trying to do a show during it. Still, I think Adam and I found a few good topics to hit on during the show. The image above is a game we touch on and would both love to see on the 3ds. Thank you everyone for sticking with us and continuing to listen. Our numbers have been way up lately and we have you to thank for it. So click HERE to listen and please review us on iTunes. As always your comments and emails are welcome. Enjoy!

DSi to 3DS Transfer Complete

After having to restart the transfer process; because my DSi lost internet connection, I know have all my DSiWare on my 3DS. Don’t worry you can restart, it picks up right where it left off. I’ll admit I was freaking out at first when I first noticed my DSi wasn’t transferring any more. Despite that little inconvenience it was still one of the neatest experiences I have had with a Nintendo product.

Things to remember: you have to update both the 3DS and the DSi you are transferring from, you have to download the Nintendo 3DS transfer Tool from the DSi Shop in the Free section, and it takes a while to accomplish all of this, but after the transferring begins, it is made enjoyable watching your Cave Story save files get deleted.

Speaking of Cave Story, that is the first game I tried out on the 3DS. The system’s speaker make that music sound so great, but be sure to hold start or select when starting the game because in my humble opinion; it just doesn’t look right in the 3DS’s stretched out blurring.

Nintendo 3DS 6/6 (barely, CST) Update, First Impressions

Nintendo eShop channel replace the White Knuckles video.

There is a talking shopping bag, if he doesn’t have a name I’m calling him Bilbo Bag.

I am going to receive notifications from eShop, let’s hope it’s more frequent than the Wii Shop and Nintendo Channels on the Wii.

I can log into my Club Nintendo Account! I wanted this so much!

Loading screen is bouncing bags, really nice looking; as is all things Nintendo channel really.

At the bottom of the touch screen it lists popular searches and popular titles.

Tax rates! That is not making me a happy camper. Have fun with not dealing with that Brad.

Bilbo Bag shows up in the downloading screen. Balls hanging from a wire drop into the icon of whatever you are downloading and fill it like a box. After the download finishes you can view a receipt. I tried but an error occurred

I tried to view more information on Super Mario Land, an error occurred. This will probably get ironed out.

Navigation is easy, more information is available at one time than on the Wii or DSi. There is a tab for “Staff Picks”, it’s Cave Story so I am not complaining. There are also tabs like, DSi Favorites, 2-Player Games, Mario, and Strategy Games (which remineded me I need to download Mighty Milky Way). There is also a coming soon tab, when you click on the more information option it may look like it just displays screen shot, but use your stylus to pull up more information like number of players, genre, and features; hopefully video will be added at some point. I like it a lot.

The Rating system for games you have played for more than an hour is very much like the rating system within the Nintendo Channel on the Wii. I rated my favorite 3DS game so far, Samurai Warriors.

Then you have to download the Nintendo 3DS Transfer Tool from the DSi Shop.

Let the transfer begin! PIKMIN! This had got to be one of my favorite all time Nintendo experiences. Seriously! I’m not exaggerating.

019 – Goodbye DS

The title says it all. As I am typing this post we are two hours from heading out to Gamestop to pay for our 3ds. Unfortunately, we then have to wait two hours for midnight. I am not sure why we have to show up at 10 pm just to pay but that’s the rule. Guess I’ll get a couple more hours of ds in. Hope everyone enjoys our send off to my favorite system. You can download the episode HERE.

Cave Story 3DS

While I wasn’t there when it was originally made available as freeware for the PC, I am a fairly devote Cave Story fan. I hyped up when Cave Story was announced for WiiWare. Then I waited. I waited some more. Once it finally came out I was blown away by how meticulous every detail seemed to be handled. Every pixel seemed to have a purpose. The music is brilliant (I’m listening to it right now). The controls became second nature. I don’t like to over use the word, but I think I love Cave Story. I have since, bought the DSiWare version and played though that as well.

On my personal website, I recently posted the following picture.

The reason I didn’t post it on Wii Are Fanboys is because I doubted that there was any Nintendo related connection. Now the word is out that Nippon Ichi Software America will be publishing the Nicalis produced Cave Story 3DS. There is a lot of information about the upcoming remake found it an interview with Daisuke Amaya (Pixel) over at GamesRadar.

Right now I am certainly pumped but sadly I am less than fond of the character art for everyone I have seen so far. -_-

This sort of makes me want to throw up. The up side is that the environments look amazing.
